Ingredients
Sauce
- 1 ½ cups chicken broth
- ½ chicken bouillon cube
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon honey
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Shrimp
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb large uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
For the Lemon Pasta
- ½ cup dry white wine
- 8 oz spaghetti
- 4 to 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- Zest of 1 lemon
- ⅔ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh parsley, to garnish
Instructions
- Mix the sauce base: Stir the chicken broth, bouillon, heavy cream, mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce, honey, oregano, basil, and onion powder together in a measuring cup until combined.
- Cook the spaghetti: Boil the spaghetti in salted water until al dente. Reserve 1 cup pasta water, then drain and set aside.
- Season and sear the shrimp: Pat the shrimp dry, then season with salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat and cook the shrimp for 1 to 2 minutes per side, until pink with golden edges, then transfer to a plate.
- Start the sauce: Add the white wine to the same skillet and scrape up the browned bits. Simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, then add the butter and garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Thicken the sauce: Sprinkle in the flour and stir for 1 minute. Slowly pour in the sauce base while stirring, then simmer for 3 to 5 minutes until smooth and lightly thickened.
- Finish the pasta: Lower the heat and stir in the lemon juice, lemon zest, and Parmesan until glossy. Toss in the spaghetti, loosen with pasta water as needed, then return the shrimp to the skillet and warm for 1 minute before garnishing with parsley.
Notes
Use extra chicken broth instead of white wine for an alcohol free version. Reheat gently with a splash of broth or cream so the sauce turns smooth again, and avoid overcooking the shrimp.
